A transmission controller may record a problem involving information it receives from the engine system. The reporting controller is not necessarily the source of the underlying fault. Keep the full-vehicle scan so related records can be considered together.
Connect the reports
Note engine warnings, reduced power, rough running and whether they appeared before the shift complaint. Include recent engine software, sensor or wiring work. Preserve the exact code description and suffix rather than translating everything into a generic gearbox failure.
The workshop should use vehicle-specific information to determine whether a signal, communication path or operating condition needs investigation. Do not replace the TCU solely because it logged the message. Ask how the proposed diagnosis relates to both the engine behaviour and transmission response. If drive becomes unreliable, discuss safe transport. A coordinated report can prevent one garage repairing a gearbox symptom while another unresolved system continues to generate the condition that triggered it.
