P0068 when airflow and throttle readings disagree

P0068 describes a mismatch between information the engine uses to judge airflow and throttle opening. It does not identify one failed part. On VAG applications, Ross-Tech includes intake leaks, throttle condition and airflow or pressure sensing among the possible explanations.

Why several readings matter

A pressure value can look reasonable on its own and still disagree with the operating conditions. The useful comparison includes engine speed, throttle request, actual throttle position and the relevant airflow or pressure channels at the same moment. Record units as well as numbers. A percentage, an angle and a calculated load are not interchangeable measurements.

Tell the workshop whether the problem began after an intake repair, throttle cleaning or a battery disconnection. That history helps establish which connections or setup procedures were disturbed. It should guide the checks, rather than become an automatic diagnosis.

Before replacing the throttle or ECU

Ask whether the intake has been checked for unwanted air and whether the sensor signals agree with the vehicle’s specifications. If a throttle adaptation was attempted, keep its result and any refusal message. Repeatedly clearing the code or resetting adaptations removes useful context without proving a repair.

For an electrical assessment, send the engine identity, complete scan and symptoms. A loss of predictable throttle response needs prompt attention; do not attempt to reproduce it in traffic. AXION can discuss the vehicle checks and whether any ECU assessment is justified.

Arrange an assessment

For ECU testing and repair, send the vehicle details and fault report to AXION. We support enquiries from drivers and garages. Workshop, postal and remote options depend on the job and are confirmed before booking.
