P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355 and P0356 concern ignition-coil circuits A to F. The manufacturer’s wiring information establishes how those letters map to the engine. These codes should not be treated as identical to a combustion-misfire code.
Why the failed part matters
If a coil has already been replaced, keep its part number and the workshop’s findings. A damaged load or wiring circuit can affect a controller output, while a controller fault can leave a good component unable to operate. The assessment needs to consider both sides of that relationship.
Ford published a bulletin covering selected vehicles with this group of codes, illustrating that ignition and PCM diagnosis can require a coordinated procedure. Its stated vehicle and production limits must be checked; it is not a universal repair instruction for UK Ford models. Ford technical bulletin 12-8-17.
Evidence worth sending
- Full codes and the engine’s cylinder numbering information.
- Original and replacement coil specifications.
- Whether the same circuit fails again or the fault moves elsewhere.
- Professional supply, connection and control-signal findings.
- ECU label, software identification and details of earlier repair attempts.
Ignition systems generate hazardous voltages. Testing belongs with a technician using appropriate equipment. A flashing engine warning, severe misfire or fuel smell needs prompt assessment rather than continued driving to reproduce the fault.
