What the technical reference establishes
Ross-Tech’s P0651 reference identifies wiring, a connected sensor or component, and the engine controller as possible causes. Its examples show that the relevant terminal and connected components vary between engines. A terminal number found for another engine is not a safe substitute for the correct vehicle wiring diagram.
Build a useful assessment brief
- Include the engine code, year, ECU part number and full scan rather than a cropped code screenshot.
- Describe whether the complaint is a starting problem, reduced power or a warning without an obvious driving symptom.
- Record recent sensor replacements, loom work, water ingress and the point when the problem first appeared.
- Ask the diagnosing garage to include its measured results and the circuit diagram identification with the report.
Why a sensor name is not a replacement instruction
