P0882 is a generic low-input fault for transmission-control-module power. The most useful first report links the stored code to the vehicle’s recent electrical history. Was it recorded after a flat battery, during a failed start or during otherwise normal driving? Do not erase that context by clearing every module before saving a scan.
Write down the sequence
Describe the original complaint, what happened next and which work followed. For example, distinguish “gearbox warning before the battery went flat” from “warning first seen after recovery and a restart”. These are different histories even when the same code is present now.
Include battery replacement or charging work, any recovery notes and the dates of diagnostic scans. Report repeated loss of communication separately from a controller that communicates but stores a power-input code.
What a garage referral should contain
- The complete scan, including other modules with voltage-related faults.
- TCM identification and exact code wording or suffix.
- Supply and earth test results with the operating conditions recorded.
- Whether the fault returned after the original low-voltage event was addressed.
An isolated code does not establish that the TCM needs replacing. Equally, an old battery event should not be used to dismiss a fault that remains active. Discuss the evidence with AXION and agree whether further vehicle-side investigation or a module assessment is appropriate. Preserve the original controller and data before buying a donor.
