Pedal demand and throttle position do not always move one-to-one

The accelerator pedal reports driver demand, while the controller determines how to operate the engine. A difference between pedal percentage and throttle percentage is not automatically a fault.

Interpreting the evidence

Use the vehicle’s expected operating strategy and compare the relevant signals under a defined condition. Include any torque limitation or protective mode shown by diagnostics. The assessment should explain why the response is abnormal for that condition rather than expecting identical percentages.

Keep this evidence

Send both parameter labels, the operating state and the complete fault record.

Do not defeat torque or safety controls to force a direct relationship between pedal movement and throttle movement.

Speak to AXION

For complex vehicle-electronics diagnostics, send your vehicle details and fault report. Workshop assessment is in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Suitable postal or remote work is confirmed before booking.
