Unexpected starter operation after body-module work is a reason to stop testing and make the vehicle safe. A fault appearing after data transfer is not proof that the transferred file is the only possible cause.
A published connector-related example
An MHH Auto contributor described a Peugeot 407 starting with an unexpected key position and operating its wipers after BSI EEPROM work. The author’s final update attributed the behaviour to two contacting pins in a BSI connector. This is a third-party repair account. AXION has not independently inspected that vehicle or verified its measurements. Read the original Peugeot 407 report.
Record both the physical work and the data work
This example supports a diagnostic question rather than a universal fix. What changed at the connector, module, harness and stored data during the job? The account does not establish donor compatibility or a reusable EEPROM correction for other vehicles. Copying a file from a forum would not answer those questions.
Information for a BSI assessment
- Original and replacement BSI label photographs and the vehicle details.
- A clear description of the unexpected behaviour, including when it first happened.
- Which connectors were disturbed and whether any pins, locks or wiring were repaired.
- The tool used, operations attempted and whether untouched original reads still exist.
- The scan report from before the work, if available, and the current report.
Keep existing files unchanged and label copies with their origin. Do not upload vehicle security data to a public discussion or send it through an ordinary enquiry unless a secure transfer has been agreed. Tell us what records exist first. Avoid further ignition tests while the starter or other outputs operate unexpectedly; professional vehicle-side checks should establish a safe starting point.
AXION supports owners and independent garages with BSI fault assessment and supported module work. Send your existing report through our repair enquiry form, or call 07440 134303. We will confirm whether the vehicle is needed at our Didcot workshop or whether a removed module is suitable for UK postal assessment.
