A van that eventually starts after prolonged cranking can still have a repeatable electrical fault. Include how long the symptom lasts, whether it changes with temperature and whether it began after other work. Avoid repeated extended starting attempts just to collect a video.
Published vehicle scope
HELLA’s Boxer III technical note lists 2019–2022 vehicles with 2.0 HDi or 2.2 HDi, specifying Euro 6.2 in its scope. It connects delayed starting and P0335 with a possible crankshaft-sensor fault, while emphasising supply, connector corrosion and wiring checks before replacement. Verify the exact engine and emissions version rather than applying the note by registration year alone.
Prepare the electrical evidence
An enquiry should include the complete P0335 description, scan date, other stored faults and the part numbers of anything already replaced. If the garage has captured a signal, send the trace with engine state and measurement conditions. A cropped waveform without time or voltage scales is difficult to interpret.
The important question is what the engine controller received during the failed start. A code naming a sensor circuit is not, by itself, proof that the controller requires repair. Similarly, a new sensor on the invoice does not establish that its wiring and connections are sound.
