Fault-code directory · Transmission electronics assessment
Pressure-control solenoids help regulate transmission operation. A circuit warning can be caused by a load, a connection, a supply or a driver inside the controller. It should not be treated as a direct measurement of the gearbox’s hydraulic pressure.
Codes covered

P0960–P0963, P0964–P0967 and P0968–P0971 concern pressure-control channels A, B and C. The groups distinguish circuit, performance and low or high electrical conditions. Actual valve assignments and monitoring strategies are transmission-specific.

Evidence that helps narrow the fault
- Determine whether the fault concerns one channel or several channels with a shared supply. Preserve the first complete scan before codes are cleared.
- Evaluate the solenoid and wiring under the prescribed conditions. Temperature and connector quality can matter when a fault appears only after the gearbox warms.
- Where an output driver is suspected, compare its command and electrical response with the known condition of the load. Avoid powering an unknown solenoid directly.
Choosing the next repair step
Controller repair is a sensible option only when the evidence supports an electronic fault and the external cause has been addressed. Reconnecting a repaired driver to a shorted load can damage it again. A verification plan should state the electrical checks performed and whether hydraulic or road testing remains necessary.
Does a low-circuit code mean the transmission fluid is low?
No. The term refers to the monitored electrical condition. Fluid level and hydraulic pressure require their own checks using the correct transmission procedure.
Talk through the fault with AXION
Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.
Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
