Choosing repair or replacement requires more than comparing headline prices. The established fault, compatibility, retained data and required installation work affect the appropriate route.
Ask for comparable scopes
Does each proposal include assessment, component work, setup and verification, or only supply of a unit? Keep the original diagnosis and module identity. A cheaper advertised part may not be usable without additional supported work.
Ask the provider to explain limitations and what happens if the removed ECU tests normally. Do not discard the original unit before the route is agreed. A clear evidence-based choice can avoid purchasing a replacement that neither fits the vehicle’s requirements nor addresses the actual cause of the complaint.
