A single click is an observation, not proof that the starter motor is defective. The sound’s source and the electrical conditions during the start request need establishing.
Describe the rest of the response
Record whether dashboard lights dim, whether the engine ever turns and whether the symptom changes after parking. Include battery, starter and cable repairs. Do not repeatedly hold the start command or bridge starter terminals.
The workshop should assess the relevant supply, command and mechanical context using the correct procedure. If a jump start changed the symptom, report it without treating that as a complete battery diagnosis. Useful measurements are those made during the failed request, not only while the circuit is unloaded.
