Peugeot e-208, Corsa-e and related Stellantis EVs with P1A71

If AC charging fails while a rapid-charge session still works, include both observations in your enquiry. They help describe the fault, but they do not prove that the onboard charger needs replacement.

The P1A71 reference

ACTRONICS documents P1A71 on Mahle charging units in specified e-CMP vehicles, including Peugeot e-208 and e-2008, Vauxhall Corsa-e and Mokka-e, Citroen e-C4 and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense. The reference concerns an internal charger or converter fault indication. The complete code, including its suffix, and the fitted unit must be identified before applying that information.

This guide is for those electric variants. It is not a diagnosis for petrol or diesel cars carrying a similar model name, and it does not establish that every charger version is repairable.

What to send with the scan

  • The exact model, year and full P1A71 code, not just the first five characters.
  • Whether the failed session used AC or DC and whether charging began before stopping.
  • The dashboard wording and the charging operator’s session error, if available.
  • Any existing photograph of the charging unit label and details of previous replacement or software work.

Describe the original failure separately from anything that happened after repairs. If a second-hand unit has already been fitted, identify both units rather than sending only the replacement’s label.

Choosing the assessment route

Ask the workshop what vehicle checks support the suspected charger diagnosis. The enquiry should distinguish an external charging problem, an installation or connection problem and an internal unit concern. The part label then helps establish whether a bench assessment is suitable or whether the complete car is needed.

Contact AXION before arranging removal or posting a component. Assessment availability, programming requirements and the likely next step depend on the exact unit. High-voltage removal is workshop work, not an owner check. A forum report with the same code is useful context, but it cannot confirm your car’s repair.

Sources and next steps

Send AXION your vehicle and fault details or choose an assessment. Workshop appointments are in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Suitable postal module work is available by arrangement for UK enquiries. Confirm acceptance before dispatch.
