A tyre-pressure warning should first be treated as a possible tyre issue. Check the tyres and pressures using the vehicle’s own instructions; an electronic warning does not make a damaged or underinflated tyre safe. If pressures are correct but the warning remains, record the exact message.
What the component does
In a direct tyre-pressure monitoring system, sensors measure tyre pressure and transmit information wirelessly to the vehicle. HELLA supplies both vehicle-specific and universal sensor types, and describes a learning process for the vehicle to recognise the sensors. A replacement valve or sensor therefore needs more than a similar appearance to establish suitability. This overview concerns direct TPMS; first confirm which monitoring system your vehicle uses.
Information that helps an assessment
Tell us whether the warning began after new tyres, a wheel change, sensor replacement or a battery event. Include the make, model, build year, the pressure readings you checked, and any available TPMS diagnostic report or sensor identifiers supplied by the tyre specialist. Distinguish a missing sensor reading from a low-pressure reading. Do not clear a warning repeatedly without resolving its cause.
Before ordering or removing a unit
A fault message identifies a system to investigate; it does not prove that its control unit needs replacement. Record the complete scan report and component identification before codes are cleared or parts are ordered. Repair suitability depends on the exact unit and the findings from diagnosis.
