Comparing temperature readings after a suitable rest can be useful, but the sensors may measure different locations and respond differently. Disagreement is a lead to investigate, not an automatic instruction to replace the largest outlier.
Define the starting conditions
Record rest duration, ambient conditions and whether the engine or other systems recently operated. Keep units and parameter names visible. A sun-heated area and a shaded component may not begin at identical temperatures.
The workshop should apply vehicle-specific plausibility checks and verify suspicious circuits appropriately. Do not substitute a resistance value or sensor from another model to force agreement. Include the actual starting complaint so the comparison supports a diagnostic question rather than becoming an isolated exercise in matching numbers.
