UDS response 0x14 when the requested reply is too large

Negative response code 0x14 means the requested response is too long. It describes the diagnostic exchange, not a vehicle component fault by itself.

Interpreting the evidence

Record the service and data request that produced the response. Check the tool’s vehicle selection and supported request size, especially when a custom or broad data read was used. A smaller supported request may help the technician isolate the communication issue without changing vehicle data.

Keep this evidence

Supply the complete request and response log with the tool version.

Do not confuse the NRC with a stored diagnostic trouble code. The surrounding message determines what the hexadecimal value means.
