An intermittent fault that does not appear during an appointment is frustrating, but a normal test result still has a defined scope. It means the fault was not demonstrated under those conditions; it does not erase the owner’s previous experience.
Improve the next observation
Record temperature, parking duration, journey length and the first affected function. Ask whether the workshop needs the vehicle overnight or requires a specific safe operating sequence. Provide an existing recording if it shows the symptom without distracting the driver.
Agree the assessment time and what will happen if the fault remains absent. Avoid insisting on a guessed component replacement just to obtain an immediate outcome. The final report should state what was checked and what could not be reproduced. If the fault returns, send new evidence linked to the earlier job reference. That continuity helps the next visit build on prior work instead of repeating the same incomplete starting point.
