Some watchdog arrangements expect processor activity within an allowed time window. Servicing the watchdog too frequently can be a problem as well as failing to service it in time.

Interpreting the evidence

A specialist investigation should compare reset timing, power stability and the device’s reported fault state. If the issue follows software or component work, preserve that history. A repeating reset is not enough by itself to identify the processor as defective.

Include any programming log and the interval between resets if it has been measured.

Watchdog operation is implementation-specific. Do not remove or defeat the watchdog to conceal a reset symptom.
