Shift solenoid D and E faults after transmission work

A warning immediately after transmission work is a reason to check the repair history carefully, not a reason to assume that the new component is defective. Connections, internal harness routing, valve identification and setup can all change during the job.

These groups relate to shift solenoids D and E, where fitted. Electrical and intermittent reports need to be separated from performance or stuck-state reports. A general scanner may shorten the description, so retain the full transmission-controller report and any suffix.

Confirm the full description, suffix and reporting module for your vehicle. These are diagnostic starting points, not a parts replacement list.

Evidence that helps narrow the fault

  • List which components were replaced, reused or disconnected. Include the valve-body or mechatronic part numbers and any coding or adaptation work already attempted.
  • Inspect the external connector and relevant internal harness using the gearbox procedure. Look for incomplete engagement, pin damage or fluid migration where applicable.
  • Compare the commanded state with electrical response and available hydraulic evidence. A correct command does not guarantee that a valve moves freely or that the required pressure reaches the clutch.

Choosing the next repair step

The evidence should identify the failed link in the control chain. An electronic controller repair cannot resolve a mechanical restriction; a valve-body replacement will not repair an external supply problem. If a removed unit is sent for testing, agree the functions being assessed and preserve its identification labels.

Can a similar-looking donor mechatronic be fitted without checks?

Appearance is not enough. Hardware generation, software, valve configuration and the required commissioning route must be compatible with the actual vehicle and transmission.

Talk through the fault with AXION

Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.

Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
