A hybrid that refuses to charge and reports an isolation warning needs more than a code reset. The full scan, vehicle identity and conditions when the warning appeared are the starting point. This guide discusses a published manufacturer example; it is not an AXION customer repair case.
What the manufacturer bulletin covers
GM bulletin 21-NA-224, revised November 2022, addresses no-charge complaints with P0AA6 and/or P1FFF, P1F0E and P0DAA. Its listed vehicles include Chevrolet Volt 2011–2015, Opel Ampera 2011–2014, Cadillac ELR 2014–2016 and Holden Volt 2013–2014; Europe is among its stated regions. Applicability must still be checked against the actual vehicle and current service information.
The bulletin discusses battery coolant loss and loss of isolation within the high-voltage battery. Its diagnostic process includes isolation information and coolant/moisture investigation before conditional control-module calibration work. It does not support treating software or a reset as a universal cure. Read GM’s published bulletin.
What to record before contacting a workshop
- The exact model, year and full code descriptions, including companion faults.
- Whether the vehicle reaches ready mode, charges intermittently or never begins charging.
- Photographs of the displayed warnings and any existing diagnostic report.
- Recent cooling-system, battery or charging repairs and when the symptom began.
- Whether the problem occurs with more than one charging location, if already known.
Do not open the traction battery, disconnect orange high-voltage cables or attempt insulation measurements yourself. These checks require trained personnel, suitable equipment and the manufacturer’s safety procedure. An online article cannot establish whether continued operation is appropriate.
Agree the assessment route first
High-voltage warnings often require vehicle-level investigation. Do not remove or post a battery or controller on the strength of the code alone.
