Door unlocking and engine-start authorisation are not the same test. A replacement key operating the locks does not necessarily mean all required functions have been correctly supplied or configured for the vehicle.
Keep the supply and programming record
Provide the key supplier’s details, part identification and what work was performed. State whether a previous key still starts the car. Ask the supplying professional to clarify which functions were checked at handover and whether any procedure remains incomplete.
Do not erase existing keys or run a guessed all-keys procedure to fix the issue. Bring all authorised keys and ownership evidence when requested by the specialist. If the car has also had an ECU or body-module replacement, include that history because the key may not be the only changed component. A useful assessment distinguishes compatibility and setup from a hardware defect rather than treating successful remote locking as proof of complete key programming.
