Working hazard lights provide a useful comparison, but hazard and stalk requests may enter the control system through different routes. The comparison does not automatically prove that the stalk is defective.
Identify the missing request
Record whether left and right both fail, whether the dashboard arrows respond and whether other stalk functions work. Include steering-column or switch replacement history. Do not open column trim around restraint wiring to bridge contacts.
The workshop should assess the input and control path using the correct information. If direction signalling is unreliable, arrange repair before normal driving. Give the technician the exact difference between hazard and stalk operation so it can distinguish command recognition from a lamp or supply issue.
