Similar units can be confused if their roles and histories are not clearly recorded. The recipient needs to know which is original, which is a proposed replacement and what work is requested for each.
Use separate identification
Photograph labels, assign clear job references and package units individually using the recipient’s instructions. Do not mark over original identifiers. Include the vehicle reference and supported data records without unnecessary personal information.
Ask the specialist to confirm receipt and identity before work proceeds. Avoid describing the pair only as old and new if one has already been swapped previously. Clear traceability helps prevent an incorrect data operation or a repair report being associated with the wrong physical unit.
