An ABS or ESP warning after a replacement deserves a clear repair history. Before requesting a coding session, explain why the original assembly was changed and whether the hydraulic unit, electronic controller or both were replaced.
Keep the original identification
- Photograph both original and replacement labels.
- Save a scan taken before removal, if one exists.
- List the present ABS and related-system fault descriptions.
- Record which repair and setup procedures have already been completed.
Do not choose a coding value because it worked on another car with the same model name. Vehicle equipment, module references and the prescribed repair process need to be considered together. AXION checks the supplied details before agreeing what remote support is suitable.
Coding is one part of the job
Volkswagen’s historical 45F2 campaign documentation illustrates why the exact procedure matters: its ABS coding instructions include specific decisions about the diagnostic test plan. That document applies to a defined campaign and must not be adopted as general instructions for an unrelated vehicle.
Remote software support does not perform hydraulic repairs, bleeding, sensor checks or an assessment of braking performance. The garage working on the vehicle remains responsible for completing the required physical work and safety checks.
Describe the current condition
Tell us whether the vehicle is stationary, whether braking behaviour has changed and which warning lamps remain. If braking is abnormal, arrange a qualified on-site assessment and suitable transport rather than driving to test a coding theory.
Keep the final scan and the garage’s completion record. A cleared warning alone is not a substitute for confirming that the brake system is operating correctly.
Ask AXION about the next step
Our ODIS online programming and VAG coding service includes remote technician sessions at £100 per hour for agreed, supported tasks. Send the details before booking. We confirm suitability, expected time and any additional costs before work starts.
