02071 reports a local-databus communication problem on the VAG applications described by Ross-Tech. Several devices can share that local bus. A fault in one branch or device may therefore accompany more than one failed function.
Build a list of affected functions
Record which systems stopped together and which still work. Include the reporting module and all companion faults, rather than extracting 02071 from the scan on its own. The local network diagram for the exact vehicle is needed to understand which devices share the connection.
A missing response is not proof that every listed device has failed. Equally, a single replaced module does not rule out a wiring or supply issue elsewhere on the branch.
Make isolation tests accountable
If a garage has disconnected components during diagnosis, ask it to record what changed and under which conditions. An undocumented sequence of disconnected devices makes an intermittent fault much harder to reconstruct. The relevant procedure should govern any disconnection and reconnection.
AXION can assess a supported network enquiry using the complete scan, wiring findings and repair history. The aim is to locate the cause of the shared communication problem before approving module repair or replacement. A successful connection after moving a harness should be treated as evidence to investigate, not as a finished repair.
Arrange an assessment
For complex electrical and network diagnostics, send the vehicle details and fault report to AXION. We support enquiries from drivers and garages. Workshop, postal and remote options depend on the job and are confirmed before booking.
Technical reference
Read the supporting technical documentation. The referenced design or vehicle application defines its scope; it is not a universal repair procedure.
