2013 Nissan LEAF B29C1 and PDM software information

When looking up a LEAF charging code, check the model year in the technical information before buying a part. A repair described for an early car is not automatically applicable to a later LEAF.

What the 2013 bulletin says

Nissan’s US service bulletin for certain 2013 LEAF charging complaints lists P316C, P3170, P3171 and B29C1 in its diagnostic conditions. It provides a conditional Power Delivery Module software route. The PDM is the module identified by that procedure; the code list is not an instruction to replace it.

The vehicle and software details must match the current manufacturer process. This historical US bulletin does not establish UK campaign eligibility or a universal cure for B29C1.

Separate the original complaint from later changes

Record whether charging would not start, ended early or stopped only on one supply. Include the original scan and a second report if the car has since been updated or repaired. Note the date of each report so the workshop can follow the sequence.

If a used PDM is already fitted, provide both part numbers and the installation record. If nothing has been changed, say so. It is easier to assess the evidence when the enquiry clearly identifies the current configuration.

Useful questions for the workshop

  • Does the vehicle fall within the technical reference’s model and software scope?
  • Which stored faults are relevant to the charging complaint?
  • What supports a software action rather than a hardware investigation?
  • How will charging operation be checked after the proposed work?

AXION can consider a charging-electronics or programming enquiry when the exact car and report are supplied. Availability is subject to confirmation; an old bulletin does not guarantee access to a suitable update or confirm that a unit can be repaired.

Do not attempt high-voltage disconnection or open the PDM to identify it. Supply information already available from service records or a competent workshop. If a charging attempt produces overheating, an electrical smell or a stop warning, stop using the equipment and seek appropriate assistance.
