Many vehicles change display brightness with lighting mode, but a screen becoming unreadable needs its settings and behaviour checked. Distinguish normal dimming from flicker, blanking or loss of controls.
Compare the brightness controls
Use the owner’s normal dimmer and display settings. Record whether the issue occurs only in automatic lighting mode and whether other illuminated controls change similarly. Mention recent instrument replacement or coding.
If the settings do not explain the problem, provide a stationary video showing the sequence. A technician should identify the brightness request and display response before assuming a power-supply defect. Do not alter wiring or coding to force permanent maximum brightness, which may create an unsuitable display at night.
