Repeated locking and unlocking during a journey should be described separately from the vehicle’s normal automatic locking feature. A continuous or unpredictable cycle can distract the driver and may accompany a door-status or access-system complaint.
Identify associated indications
Record whether a door-open message, interior lamp or alarm indication changes at the same time. State whether one door seems involved and mention recent door, latch or accessory work. Do not attempt to watch diagnostic data while driving.
A technician should compare commands and status information using the correct system information before selecting a BCM or latch. Avoid pulling fuses to suppress the symptom because other safety or locking functions may be affected. If a door does not latch securely, stop using the vehicle until assessed. Provide the complete scan and a description of when the cycling begins, such as immediately after moving or only on rough roads.
