An electric-drive warning does not identify one replaceable box. Before requesting an “EV ECU repair”, establish which controller reported the fault and which unit your technician suspects.
Different roles in the electric powertrain
Bosch describes the inverter as converting battery direct current into alternating current for the drive motor. Its vehicle control unit documentation describes a coordinating controller that can manage powertrain functions and interact with other systems, including battery management and the inverter. Exact functions and integration differ between vehicle designs.
The names on a scan tool may differ from the wording on a parts listing. Record both, together with the full hardware and software identification where available.
Make the report specific
Include whether the vehicle enters its ready state, accepts a driving selection and charges normally. Preserve the complete scan rather than only the first powertrain code. Describe any recent software work, collision, water exposure or component replacement.
Ask the technician to identify what has been established and what is still a hypothesis. Do not interpret a general warning as proof that the inverter, VCU or battery has failed.
Arrange suitable handling
High-voltage components require trained personnel and vehicle-specific precautions. Do not open a unit or disconnect high-voltage cables to obtain photographs for an enquiry. Supply existing accessible labels or workshop records.
Discuss the EV system with AXION before removal or dispatch. UK-wide enquiries do not mean every high-voltage component is suitable for ordinary postal handling.
