Reduced regenerative braking can be a normal operating limit when a battery cannot accept the usual amount of recovered energy. The dashboard indication and owner’s manual matter: a normal limitation should not be confused with a brake-system warning or a sudden unexplained change in braking.
Compare like-for-like conditions
Record battery percentage, outside temperature and whether the behaviour changes as charge is used. Tesla’s Model 3 manual gives full charge and cold battery conditions as examples. That example does not establish the strategy used by every EV.
Follow your own vehicle’s braking instructions and allow for its actual response. If there is a warning, abnormal pedal feel or a change that does not fit the manual, seek assessment before further use. Send the warning wording and circumstances rather than requesting a battery replacement solely because the energy-recovery display shows a lower level.
