A heated-wheel control that switches off needs the timing and displayed state recorded. A normal timed function, a temperature-related limit and an electrical fault can look similar from the driver’s seat. The manual for the actual model is the starting point.
Note the sequence
Does the indicator turn off immediately, after a repeatable interval, or only when another function is used? Is any section of the wheel warming? Include recent steering-wheel, airbag or battery work and any other steering-column symptoms.
Do not dismantle the wheel or probe connectors to test the heater. Restraint wiring may be involved in the same area and requires the correct safety procedure. A workshop should compare the command, operating conditions and relevant fault data before recommending a component. Tell it whether the function worked normally before the recent work and retain the original parts if a replacement has already been fitted.
