System generation matters

Relevant components can include the key, engine controller and instrument cluster or separate immobiliser controller; certain applications involve additional modules. It also distinguishes immobiliser functions from remote-control functions in many vehicles.
That means “the remote unlocks the doors” is not a complete description of start authorisation, and an old procedure from another vehicle may not apply. New and previously matched components can also have different requirements.
Prepare the ownership and technical information
