Before changing a vehicle setting, make it possible to explain exactly what changed. Screenshots of a warning after the event are useful, but a record of the original controller and settings can be much more informative.
Identify the requested operation
“Programming” is often used loosely in an enquiry. Tell the technician whether you want a software update, equipment configuration, a supported adaptation, replacement-module setup or investigation of a failed previous attempt. These requests should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
Ross-Tech describes its Adaptation function as changing supported controller values or settings, with some controllers requiring authorised access. Availability depends on the controller; the existence of an option in a tool does not establish suitability for every vehicle.
Keep a before-and-after record
- Save the complete scan before any change.
- Record controller part number and software identification.
- Save original coding and relevant adaptation values where the tool supports it.
- Describe the intended feature or repair and the exact changes attempted.
- Retain tool messages and a scan showing the current state.
Do not use values from an unrelated vehicle as proof of the correct setup. Tell the technician if the original record is missing so the proposed route can account for that limitation.
Ask about support before posting a module
Some work needs the vehicle, its other controllers or manufacturer access. Contact AXION about coding and adaptation with the exact module details. We welcome UK-wide enquiries, but postal suitability must be agreed for the specific task.
