A vehicle that communicates normally with ignition on but develops faults after the engine starts needs the transition captured. Starting changes supply and operating conditions, and additional systems become active. The pattern is useful but not a diagnosis by itself.
Define when communication changes
Does the fault occur during cranking, immediately after startup or after engine speed rises? Record which modules disappear and whether dashboard warnings or rough running accompany the event. Include charging-system and accessory work in the history.
Avoid disconnecting batteries or charging equipment while the engine runs as a test. A qualified technician should choose measurements suited to the suspected circuit and compare the two states safely. Preserve original scan logs with timestamps. Sending one unreachable controller without those observations can miss a vehicle-side cause. Ask the workshop to explain which changed condition its test established and how that supports the next repair step.
