Replacing a gateway does not automatically repair every communication problem on the networks connected to it. If some modules remain inaccessible, the original evidence and post-installation result should be compared before more parts are ordered.
Check what actually changed
Keep both gateway labels, the configuration record and complete scans from before and after installation. Identify which modules became reachable and which did not. Include any programming or compatibility messages instead of describing the replacement simply as coded.
The technician should assess the remaining network segment and applicable configuration using the vehicle’s own information. Do not copy settings from an unrelated model to make the topology display look complete. If the original unit is available, retain it until the job is resolved. An enquiry should ask which checks distinguish an unresolved vehicle circuit from an incomplete setup, with the limits of any bench gateway test clearly stated.
