If a hybrid unexpectedly loses propulsion, the first enquiry should describe what happened and how the vehicle was recovered. Do not reproduce the event with hard acceleration to see whether it happens again. A workshop needs the original fault report and exact vehicle identity before deciding which published information is relevant.

The documented production window
HELLA’s Yaris Hybrid note concerns the 1.5 HSD with M15A-FXE engine. It describes a hybrid-control software issue associated with input-damper slip under strong acceleration. The stated production window is 7 July to 13 November 2020, with measure reference 22SMD-092. A 2020 registration alone does not establish inclusion.
Information to keep together
Send the build details, complete scan report, warning messages, circumstances and any previous dealer campaign paperwork. Note whether the petrol engine stopped, the READY indication changed, or the vehicle would restart after stopping. Those are observations, not a diagnosis.
Ask Toyota to confirm current campaign or software applicability for the individual VIN. A historical technical note does not establish that a particular UK car has an outstanding recall, nor that an update is the answer to every hybrid shutdown.
Where AXION fits
Contact AXION with that information to discuss the appropriate electronics assessment. Describe any work already authorised elsewhere so testing is not duplicated. Complete-vehicle work is arranged at the workshop; a hybrid controller should not be removed and posted before suitability is agreed.
