VAG P150A engine-off timer faults after a battery disconnection

P150A concerns engine-off timer performance in Ross-Tech’s VAG reference. Its notes include instrument-cluster faults and a cluster reset after battery disconnection. The timing information may therefore involve more than the engine controller alone.

Keep the battery event in the timeline

Record whether the battery was disconnected, discharged or replaced shortly before the fault. Include any clock or display reset and save the cluster’s own fault report. A scan limited to engine codes may omit useful context.

Explain whether the vehicle has a current running or starting problem, or whether the code was found during an unrelated scan. A historical event and a recurring active concern should not be described as the same condition.

Check the application before proposing an update

Ross-Tech includes a software reference for a specific Tiguan engine application. That does not establish that every P150A needs an ECU flash. The diagnosis should connect the installed software and repair history to the relevant guidance.

AXION can assess supported power-management or programming enquiries using the complete report. Avoid replacing a cluster or ECU solely because it stores a timer-related code. Preserve the evidence, establish whether the fault returns under the appropriate conditions and agree a repair based on those findings.

Arrange an assessment

For complex electrical and network diagnostics, send the vehicle details and fault report to AXION. We support enquiries from drivers and garages. Workshop, postal and remote options depend on the job and are confirmed before booking.

Technical reference

Read the supporting technical documentation. The referenced design or vehicle application defines its scope; it is not a universal repair procedure.
