Crackling from one location across radio, phone and other sources suggests a different pattern from a fault affecting only one recording or connection. Identify the location and conditions rather than assuming the head unit failed.
Compare volume and vehicle state
Record whether the noise occurs at low volume, with the engine off or after the cabin warms. Mention door repairs, water entry and speaker upgrades. Do not disconnect unknown amplifier or fibre connections casually.
The technician should assess the relevant speaker, wiring and output path. A loudness-dependent noise may require different checks from a constant hiss. Keep the original equipment details so any proposed replacement matches the system rather than merely fitting the same opening.
