Classical CAN supports different identifier formats. The displayed number alone does not always identify which frame format was captured.
How to narrow it down
When comparing two traces, keep the format flag and identifier display base with the record. Confirm that a filter or export has not removed that distinction. A supposed new message after a repair may instead reflect a change in how the diagnostic software presents it.
What to include with the fault report
Provide the raw trace and state whether identifiers are displayed in decimal or hexadecimal.
Message meaning remains vehicle-specific. Matching a number from another model does not establish the same function, sender or expected data.
Speak to AXION
For CAN-bus and vehicle-network diagnostics, send your vehicle details and fault report. Workshop assessment is in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Suitable postal or remote work is confirmed before booking.
