Brake lamps remaining illuminated should be resolved promptly because other drivers depend on a clear braking signal. Record whether every brake lamp is affected and whether the vehicle displays related warnings. Do not disable the lamps as a workaround.
Describe the operating conditions
Do they remain on with the vehicle switched off, only when ready to drive or only after the pedal has been used? Mention pedal-area work, switch replacement and any recent electrical repairs. These observations help the technician define the affected circuit and control state.
Keep input and output evidence separate
A lamp that is on does not tell the technician whether the control system believes the pedal is pressed. The assessment needs the appropriate input information and circuit tests. A replacement switch should not be ordered solely from a generic fault label without checking the fitted arrangement.
