An e-Pedal failure warning changes what the driver should expect when releasing the accelerator. Read and follow the displayed instruction immediately. Do not continue relying on the familiar one-pedal response to slow or hold the vehicle.
Nissan’s instruction comes first
The 2023 UK LEAF manual says that an e-Pedal system malfunction produces a warning directing the driver to use the brake pedal to slow or stop. The function switches off automatically, and Nissan calls for it to be checked promptly by a repairer familiar with the LEAF.
That warning identifies a loss of function. It does not name a failed component or provide a fault code by itself. If braking feels abnormal, another brake warning is present or the vehicle cannot be used safely, stop safely and arrange assistance. Do not drive to the workshop merely to reproduce the message.
Keep the message and the circumstances together
Once safely parked, save the complete wording and any other warning lights. Tell the workshop whether the message appeared when starting, when moving off or during an existing journey. Describe what you actually observed without repeating a road test.
Add the model year, version and recent work. If a 12-volt battery, brake component, wheel or sensor was recently replaced, include the invoice or job description. A timing link is useful history, but it does not prove that the recent work caused the warning.
A full scan is more useful than a reset request
For a garage referral, supply the full diagnostic report with controller names and code status. Keep the original scan before clearing entries or changing settings. If the report contains only generic engine data, say so; an empty result in that limited report should not be presented as confirmation that every vehicle system is fault-free.
Include any brake or electrical inspection findings with the test conditions. If the warning disappeared later, keep the earlier record and explain when it stopped appearing. An intermittent complaint still needs a clear history.
Questions to settle before booking
Ask whether the proposed appointment covers diagnosis of the warning, a separate brake inspection or programming after a confirmed repair. If a replacement controller is suggested, request the evidence and the exact unit identification. A dashboard message alone is not enough to order a module.
Send AXION the LEAF details and warning record. We will confirm whether a suitable assessment is available and whether recovery is needed. The vehicle may be required to examine the system properly; do not remove brake or high-voltage components for a speculative postal repair.
