Hyundai IONIQ 5 V2L stops supplying power or reports conditions not met

Vehicle-to-load, usually shortened to V2L, lets a suitably equipped car supply electrical equipment. If an IONIQ 5 stops supplying that equipment, begin with the dashboard message. A normal battery reserve limit and an electrical warning need different responses.

Three messages with different meanings

Hyundai’s 2025 IONIQ 5 US manual separates reaching the chosen battery-discharge limit, excessive appliance power demand and a conditions-not-met message. For the last category it lists the connector switch and connector overheating among the possible conditions. These distinctions help explain why a stopped V2L session does not automatically prove an ICCU failure.

Use the handbook supplied for your vehicle and market for the actual controls, equipment rating and warnings. The US reference explains the message categories; it does not establish the socket specification or output rating of a UK car. Equipment also varies with the vehicle specification.

Record what was connected

Include the appliance make and model, its rating-label information and whether other equipment was connected at the same time. Tell us which V2L outlet or adapter was being used and whether the equipment had worked in that arrangement before.

Record the car’s battery percentage and the V2L reserve setting as they were when the session stopped. A photograph of those settings can be more useful than a statement that the traction battery was full enough. Keep any warning photograph separate from images of charging faults so the workshop can identify which function was in use.

When to stop using the equipment

If there is heat damage, an unusual smell, a damaged plug or another electrical concern, stop using the affected equipment and follow the handbook. Do not dismantle the adapter, alter its protection or repeatedly reset a warning. V2L supplies mains electricity and needs the same care as other mains-powered equipment.

Do not connect the vehicle output into a household socket or fixed building wiring. A repair enquiry does not require you to construct an adapter or test exposed connections. Describe the existing problem and arrange an appropriate inspection.

Tell us whether vehicle charging also has a problem

A V2L-only complaint, an AC charging refusal and a vehicle that will not become ready should be described separately. If more than one occurs, include the sequence and the full scan already available. Avoid assigning all of them to one component without supporting findings.

Contact AXION about the V2L or electrical warning with the vehicle details and equipment information. We will confirm whether the enquiry concerns vehicle diagnosis, an accessory issue or another assessment route. If P1A9096 is also recorded, read our IONIQ and EV6 ICCU guide and include any manufacturer campaign history.
