A warning that appears during a clutch-related calibration can leave a garage unsure whether to repeat the procedure, revisit the installation or refer the electronics. The best starting point is the complete P0810 report and the exact sequence of work.
The code does not choose the repair
Autel’s definition concerns an error in controlling clutch position. Read the reference, printed page 54. Identify the transmission design and its supported procedure before drawing conclusions from that description.
Record each attempt
Keep the diagnostic tool’s exact messages, including the stage at which a procedure stopped. Note what was changed between attempts. “Adaptation failed” is less informative than a dated record showing the selected function, prerequisites checked and returned message.
Include the original and replacement part identities for any clutch, actuator or controller work. State whether the vehicle could select gears before the repair and whether that behaviour changed afterwards. Preserve the earlier scan if one exists.
Make the referral question specific
Ask whether the available findings support further mechanical/setup investigation or an electronics assessment. Repeating a learning procedure without understanding why it failed may not provide new evidence. Do not run an unfamiliar actuation routine simply because it is available in the tool menu.
